Exam Sign-up Procedure

To sign up for a practical exam, do the following steps:

Register with the NH EMS Field Office by calling the office at 603-752-7531. They will verify that you are eligible for practical exam testing.
Register with the NH EMS Region 1 Council Exam Committee. To do this,
- Download the exam sign-up application form.
- Mail the completed form with a money order or bank check for the exam fee to: Region 1 EMS, P.O. Box 222, Grantham, NH 03753. The check or money order should be made payable to: EMS Region 1.

Please note the following important things:

The exam fee must accompany the application and must be postmarked 10 days prior to the exam for the candidate to be eligible to test. Payment must be made by bank check or money order - NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED.
NO REFUNDS will be given for cancellation unless the Region 1 Council Exam Committee is notified at least 48 hours prior to the scheduled exam date. Email the exam committee at: registrations@nhregion1ems.org; or call: 603-863-6125. The exam fee is not tax deductible.
The practical exam fee schedule is as follows:
- First Responder Exam: $50.00
- EMT Exam: $60.00
- First Responder retest: $10 per station (Up to 2 stations)
- EMT retest: $10 per station (Up to 2 stations)
Late registration fees. Normally, exam registration is closed on the Wednesday 10 days prior to the exam date. For example, registration for an exam scheduled for February 17th would close on February 7th. Region 1 will now accept registrations from the Wednesday deadline through the end of the following Monday provided that the exam is not already closed. A late registration fee will be applied. The new schedule of fees is:

Basic exams - $60 if in time; $100 if late

First responder exams - $50 if in time; $80 if late

Retests - $10 if in time; $15 if late

No registrations will be accepted after the Monday deadline.
All participants testing at a practical exam are now required to present a photo ID when registering at the exam site on the day of the exam. If you don't have a photo ID, two forms of non-photo ID will be acceptable.
